About DD SYSTEM
DD is a network client/server system to store, process and plot any kind
of scientific data.
It was developed at
Space Research Institute (Moscow)
by Andrei Fedorov primarily to analyze data from the
INTERBALL project.
Main DD SYSTEM components:
- Preprocessed data in
the NetCDF
format is stored in DD Base. Access to data is authorized.
Currently DD_Base includes data of
INTERBALL,
MARS-Express ASPERA-3,
CLUSTER
for selected time intervals and auxiliary data.
- DD_Server processes a network request to retrieve data.
The data is defined in the terms of
virtual instruments.
- DD_Client Library is a set of programs for data access, analysis
and display. DD_Clients communicates with DD_Server by network.
There are several interfaces to DD_Server:
- Level 0. The direct access to any raw data via DD_Client calls.
This level
usually is available to system administrator and data base application
programmer.
- Level 1. IDL(C)-procedures
to retrieve preprocessed data for different virtual instruments into user's
IDL (C) programs.
- Level 2. Graphical interfaces
DD_Graph (interactive) and
DD_Request.
Plots (or ASCII files) are generated according
to instructions in Request Files.
Request files manipulate with DD data objects.
An object comprises data, data processing method and plot type.
It has its own unique name and (usually) a number of variable parameters
(See
Collection of Objects for details). Users could use
existing objects and add their own (written in IDL).
- Level 3. WEB interface is
the WEB Edition of DD_Graph.
This interface utilizes any WEB Browser for work.
DD_Client Library should be installed locally for Level 0 - 2 interfaces.
DD SYSTEM has been developed with participation of Alexander Grigoriev, Peter Budnik and Elena Budnik.
